Deputy Director

Tri-Com Central Dispatch is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Director.  Tri-Com is a consolidated 9-1-1 center, providing 9-1-1 police and fire dispatch services to St Charles, Geneva, Batavia, Elburn, and Sugar Grove; South Elgin Police, North Aurora Fire and Waubonsee Community College Police.   The center employs 27 people and serves a population of approximately 150,000 residents.   

 

The Deputy Director works under the direction of the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and is responsible for the staffing, performance and conduct of the employees handling the 9-1-1 calls and dispatching police, fire and EMS.  The Deputy Director supervises the Training Coordinator, 3 shift supervisors and 17 dispatchers.       

 

Candidates should possess an Associate’s degree in public safety management or related field and have at least 3 years of progressively responsible management or supervisory experience in public safety is required. A minimum of five years of experience in a 9-1-1 public safety communications environment or related field and a Bachelor’s degree in the public safety, management or related field is preferred.  NENA Emergency Number Professional (ENP) or APCO Registered Public-Safety Leader (RPL), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS), CPR certifications preferred.  

 

Candidates must have excellent leadership, management, interpersonal and communications skills.  Candidates must have knowledge of and possess the ability to perform ALL essential job tasks and responsibilities of an emergency telecommunicator, including use of the following critical systems:  E9-1-1 phone system, radio system, Computer Aided Dispatch and related public safety communications technology.  Knowledge of police and fire operations and experience with quality assurance is a must. 

 

Final candidate will be required to successfully pass a medical exam, drug screening, psychological test, personality profile and an extensive background check.  

 

The salary range is $75,500-$108,885. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Telecommunicator (Full Time)

Tri-Com Central Dispatch (Tri-Com) located in Kane County, Illinois is Now Accepting Applications for the position of Telecommunicator (Full-time).

TRI-COM Central Dispatch is a multi-jurisdictional 9-1-1 dispatch center located in St Charles, Illinois.   We receive 9-1-1 calls and dispatch police, fire and emergency medical calls.  Duties involve answering 9-1-1 calls, transmitting vital information to emergency personnel via the radio, relaying information via a computer-aided dispatch terminal, and answering administrative and non-emergency lines.        
 
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

·        Minimum age requirement of 21 years old
·        Education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma
·        Ability to speak clear articulate English
·       Full range of hearing in both ears
·        Type accurately with a speed of at least 40 WPM 

(typing test must be passed in order to proceed with testing and interview process)   

The position supports a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation and applicants must have the desire and ability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays. 

 

Desirable qualifications:

·        Previous experience in public-safety dispatching
·        Multi-line telephone equipment
·        Fast paced, computerized customer service experience
·        Flexibility, split ear and multi-tasking are paramount

Applicants must successfully pass applicant testing, a keystroke/typing test, and an oral board interview.  After placement on the eligibility list, applicants will take a polygraph test, extensive background investigation, criminal history check, psychological evaluation, physical exam, and drug test.
