Tri-Com Director

 

 

Tri-Com Central Dispatch is seeking applications for Tri-Com Director.  Tri-Com performs dispatch services for the Fox River Valley area. Tri-Com has 21 full-time employees and 1 part-time employee.  Tri-Com’s 2017-2018 fiscal year budget is $3.5 million. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, information technology, or a related field and five to seven years of progressive management experience in public safety dispatch and telecommunications operations, or equivalent education and experience.  Master’s degree and NENA ENP or APCO RPL certification desirable.

Candidates must have excellent leadership, management, and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact positively with a wide variety of officials and staff in emergency service agencies. Knowledge of police, fire, and EMS operations, and quality management techniques.

The salary range is between $92,525 and $132,178 with an anticipated hiring range up to $112,350 depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to reside within a 35-mile radius of Tri-Com Central Dispatch upon the completion of a six-month probationary period. The annual salary is supplemented by a generous benefit package.

Supervisor (Full Time)

Tri-Com Central Dispatch (Tri-Com) located in Kane County, Illinois is Now Accepting Applications for the position of Supervisor (Full-time). Tri-Com provides 9-1-1 and dispatch services for seven (7) police departments and six (6) fire departments primarily in Kane County in the far western suburbs of Chicago. Tri-Com serves an area of 225 square miles and a population of 150,000 residents. Tri-Com employs 17 dispatchers and 3 working shift supervisors. Tri-Com is seeking highly motivated, qualified candidates for the position of Supervisor.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years old
  • Education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a 9-1-1 Telecommunicator; or,
  • Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job

Highly desirable:

  • Prior supervisory experience in a public safety communications center
  • Knowledge of police and fire operations and experience with quality management techniques
  • Excellent leadership, management and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of radio systems and related public safety technology
  • APCO PST, CTO, Supervisor, Fire Service, & EMD Certifications
  • Experience on OSSI CAD System

Telecommunicator (Full Time)

Tri-Com Central Dispatch (Tri-Com) located in Kane County, Illinois is Now Accepting Applications for the position of Telecommunicator (Full-time).

TRI-COM Central Dispatch is a multi-jurisdictional 9-1-1 dispatch center located in St Charles, Illinois.   We receive 9-1-1 calls and dispatch police, fire and emergency medical calls.  Duties involve answering 9-1-1 calls, transmitting vital information to emergency personnel via the radio, relaying information via a computer-aided dispatch terminal, and answering administrative and non-emergency lines.        
 
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

·        Minimum age requirement of 21 years old
·        Education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma
·        Ability to speak clear articulate English
·       Full range of hearing in both ears
·        Type accurately with a speed of at least 40 WPM 

(typing test must be passed in order to proceed with testing and interview process)   

The position supports a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation and applicants must have the desire and ability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays. 

 

Desirable qualifications:

·        Previous experience in public-safety dispatching
·        Multi-line telephone equipment
·        Fast paced, computerized customer service experience
·        Flexibility, split ear and multi-tasking are paramount

Applicants must successfully pass applicant testing, a keystroke/typing test, and an oral board interview.  After placement on the eligibility list, applicants will take a polygraph test, extensive background investigation, criminal history check, psychological evaluation, physical exam, and drug test.
